Bushrangers hoping to spoil Redbacks party

The DEC Bushrangers will be looking to give ladder leaders the West End Redbacks a run for their money tonight when they battle it out in their last KFC Twenty20 Big Bash match.

The bitter rivalry between Victoria and South Australia will again come to fruition with plenty on the line. The Bushrangers may out of the finals race but tonight they have the power to change the course of the Redbacks finals campaign.

Captain Andrew McDonald believes the pressure is firmly on the South Australians as they must win to secure top spot on the table and a home final, otherwise they could face an early exit from the finals series.

"It is tight and the pressure is all on them, they have got to win," he said.

"I've had a look at the table and I think if we can give them a walloping we might be able to knock them out of contention the way the draw is and how close it is."

Last year was the first time South Australia challenged Victoria for the Twenty20 title with a home final but the Bushrangers came away with a 48-run win.

Earlier this season the Bushrangers played the Redbacks in Adelaide and lost by 55 runs. It's now the Bushrangers turn to return the favour and spoil the party for the Redbacks.

McDonald says whilst the Bushrangers aren't contending for a finals spot, there is still plenty to play for amongst the group in the final Twenty20 clash of the season.

"There is always something to play for when you have a Victorian cap on," he said.

"There will be a few opportunities for the younger guys coming in. There have been a few changes to the line-up so plenty to play for from our end."

While there will be opportunities for the younger players in the side, there will be second chances on offer to the older players according to McDonald who haven't played as well as they had hoped.

"We have probably been a little disappointing not getting the job done in the last game that would've kept out hopes alive in the middle," he said.

"Aaron Finch is one that has led the way with the bat. Finchy got us off to a good start once again (against NSW).

"Hodge is a class act and I'm sure will entertain the crowd in the last fixture here at the G."
