IPL Update

Hodge on target for mammoth score and Daredevils take out maiden win

DEC Bushrangers Head Coach Greg Shippard's Delhi Daredevils have secured their first win in the 2011 IPL after a shaky start to the tournament.

Taking on the Sahara Pune Warriors on Sunday night, the Daredevils seized a three wicket victory over Pune - new comers into this year's IPL fixture.

Winning the toss and electing to bowl, Delhi reduced Pune to 187 from their 20 overs.

New South Welshman David Warner starred with the bat posting a quick fire 46 from just 28 balls before an unfortunate run out saw him on his way.

Victoria's own Aaron Finch did some heavy hitting of his own with his swift 25 from 12 before falling victim to Yuraj Singh.

The Delhi batsmen smashed their way to 190 from 19.2 overs to take out their maiden win.

In other IPL news, Brad Hodge's Kochi Tuskers Kerela secured another win for the tournament with an upset seven wicket victory over last year's IPL Champions - the Chennai Super Kings.

New Zealand's Brendon Mc Cullum who starred for Kochi with his 47 off 33 was well supported by Hodge's 19 (not out) off 14 balls which helped guide the team to its second win - the first against the Mumbai Indians, Kochi smashing the 2010 IPL runners-up by 8 wickets.

Having a consistent 2011, Hodge has been travelling well this tournament.

We are yet to see a massive score from the Sandringham master blaster, but with his 27 against the Royal Challengers Bangalore and his 2/14 and 39 against Pune alongside his latest performances, it shouldn't be long before this Vic fires up and starts hitting big.
