Top 30 Victorian Cricket Mos - #28 Shane Warne

One of Wisden's five cricketers of the Century, Shane Warne single-handily revived the dying art of leg-spin.

From the moment he bamboozled Mike Gatting with his first ball in England in 1993, Warne had the mental edge over English cricketers for the next 15 years.

Warne was rushed into the Australian side early in his career so his record with Victoria isn't that of a bowler of his class.

Though he only took 161 wickets at 34.72 in the Big V, he saved some of his memorable performances for the MCG, and the adoring Victorian public.

In 1992, he announced himself on the big stage by claiming 7-52 on the final day of the Boxing Day Test against West Indies.

In 1994, he thrilled his Victorian fans by claiming a hat trick as England was rolled for 92.

In 2006, with 89,155 Victorians at the G, Warne capped an amazing career by dismissing Andrew Strauss to claim his 700th Test wicket.

First-Class Stats: 301 matches, 1319 wickets at 26.11, Best Bowling 8-71
