Keath's obvious talent was on display for all to see during the 2010-11 season when he made his Sheffield Shield debut. The 19-year-old, who has been compared to fellow Victorian all-rounder Andrew McDonald, hit a composed 46 against an Ashes-winning bowling line-up in the Sir Robert Menzies Memorial Match.
Keath's name was thrown into contention for selection in the Bushrangers team after a scintillating knock of 192 in the Futures League against Western Australia in November.
The talented all-rounder and captain of the Victorian Under-19 team was a key signing for the Bushrangers. Keath was noted as a top AFL prospect and was named as a priority pick by the newly-formed Gold Coast Football Club before deciding to focus on cricket.
He was part of the Australian team that won the Under-19 World Cup where he scored 216 runs at 43.20 to be the eighth-leading scorer in the tournament, and also collected six wickets at 16.33 with his medium-pace bowling.
In the 2009-10 season he represented Victoria in a Futures League match and was selected to play for the Prime Minister XI's in Canberra, where he took a four-wicket haul against the West Indies, including the prized scalps of Chris Gayle and Kieron Pollard.
