About Matthew Wade

Nickname Wadey
Date of Birth 26/12/1987
Weight 78kg
Height 172cm
Club Casey-South Melbourne
Batting Left Arm Bat
Bowling -

With three One-Day centuries for the year, a feat matched only by the great Brad Hodge, Wade truly announced himself as a top-class batsman/wicketkeeper.

He finished the season with 489 runs in the Ryobi One-Day Cup, the second most in the competition. Named as the wicketkeeper in the ACA All Star One-Day Team of the Year, Wade's opening partnership with Aaron Finch was a big reason why Victoria broke their title drought in the format. It is a sign of how far Wade's batting has come in his three seasons as a Bushranger that in June he was selected, as a batsman, to play in the Australia A series in Zimbabwe.

Wade's durability, a quality held by all great wicketkeepers of the past, resulted in him being the only Victorian to play in every Bushranger match last season. From the first match of the Champions League Twenty20 on September 13 to the last day of the Bushrangers' Shield season on March 12, Wade played in 32 matches and on 62 days of cricket. It was a testament to Wade's fighting quality that his best Shield performance of the year - an unbeaten 113 in a side that lost by an innings- came on the final day of the season.
